To the parents and guardians of the seniors in the class of 2019:

I am writing to you today because tomorrow is our very first Senior Seminar. Seniors will be meeting as small groups all year long during a-lab for this course. At our open house we had an opportunity to share the goals of the course. In a nutshell, the course is designed to support students getting from here, the start of their senior year, to their diploma at graduation.

Some seniors know they are going to college next year, some know they are doing some other specific post secondary option (vocation, trade school, apprenticeship…), and some have no idea what is next. Our goal with this course is to support all of them.

Senior projects, community service hours, academic requirements for graduation, college applications, job applications, interview skills… the list goes on and on. Our seniors are about to go out into the world and we want to make sure we have done everything we can to help them prepare for it. It was with this in mind that the course was created.

For the students that are attending the Greene County Career center and participating in College Credit Plus, our support will be offered online through a Google Classroom. This will require every student to have their Acceptable Use Policy turned in to the office.

Attached here is a copy of the course description and a copy of the Acceptable Use Policy form.

This week we will go over the revisions to the senior project, now called the senior capstone event, and we will also start a transcript audit with each student so everyone knows where they are on the path to graduation.

If you have any questions, please reach out to any of us.
